What’s New In This Release?
Pending final testing later this week, ECi plans to load Version 7.3.1 Build 1215 of ECinteractive® and is.D-Force® onto production Web servers this Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 — between 10 PM and 6 AM Eastern Time. This release includes the following enhancements:
- Added “Allow Punctuation in Item Numbers” setting to Admin Site Preferences. It lets you determine whether or not punctuation will be removed from the Item Number before processing in QuickOrder, Favorites, and Order History. If you leave the new setting enabled as by default, the Item Number field accepts all letters, numbers, special characters and punctuation that the user enters, and uses them to find matching item records. This is how it has always worked before. But if you disable the new Site Preference setting, any invalid special characters and punctuation will be stripped from the entered Item Number before the lookup. This will include these characters: ~`!@#$%^&*()-=_+[]\{}|;’:”,./<>? and space. The field will then be updated on the page to reflect an Item Number with acceptable letters and numbers. For example, if the user enters !Lag &%40*(&@5 0>1, the system will display and search for LAG40501. EXCEPTIONS: 1) This new setting does NOT affect any Item Number fields in the Admin Control Panel. 2) This new setting does NOT affect the Advanced Search Item Number field. 3) The tilde (~) and caret (^) characters will ALWAYS be removed from Item Numbers regardless of the new Site Preference setting. These characters are reserved for backend communication and cannot be used elsewhere. (6405)
- Corrected the keyboard shortcuts in the end user Quick Order/Favorites (Manage Items) pages so that pressing the Enter key will move to the next line before item is verified (just like Tab key does). This allows you to enter items more quickly while the system validates each item. Also, when you click the buttons to Add Items to Favorites, Add Items to Cart, or Save Changes, the system will display a dialog box listing any invalid line items, allowing the user to click to go directly to the item in question to make corrections, or allowing the user to ignore (ignored items will not be added to the order). (6406)
- Enhanced backend error handling to display a new message: 'An error has occurred while communicating with the dealer host system. Please try refreshing your browser in a few seconds. If the problem continues, please contact customer support. We apologize for this inconvenience. Thank you.' Also, when GOA exceptions occur, the email message will notify not only server administrators, but also the dealer and ECi support personnel. (6411)
- Corrected the Laundry List synchronization program so that it synchs on the schedule that you specify, and displays the proper "next synch" date. (6310)
- Corrected the end-user Checkout and Edit Budgets pages to include the general ledger and inventory location data required to validate orders and budget changes on the back-end system. This resolves unexpected errors that occurred in version 7.2 and higher for accounts with multiple locations. (6092)
- Corrected the e-mail message text notifying end users that their order is pending approval, so that the suite and address fields in the Billing information is no longer missing. (6243)
- Corrected the end user "Review and Complete Your order" Checkout page, so that the name and suite is no longer missing from the Bill To address. (6334)
- Modified the alignment and spacing of the end user Checkout page’s Order Summary. (6528)
- Modified the display of the end user Checkout page’s Your Order box (after the order is submitted) to accommodate the maximum length of department numbers, department descriptions, and other messages. (6530)
- Corrected the QuickOrder error message by adding "Item Not Added to Order" error to the existing "Item Not Recognized" error when the user attempts to add an invalid line item using the "Enter" key. This was added to be consistent with the error message displayed when using the Tab key to add an invalid line item. (6576)
- Corrected the QuickOrder page so when the end user searches for a partial item number in the SKU# box and there are multiple results, the system properly displays the pricing information, instead of switching the list price and selling price. Also, the unit of measure (such as each, box, carton, and so on) are properly displayed. Previously, the unit was improperly shown as undefined and labeled as "List" when the list price was set to be hidden. (5544, 6591)
- Corrected the department fields in Quick Order, Order History and Shopping Cart so that the user can select from a list restricted to the departments the administrator has assigned to that user. (6612)
- Corrected so that the system no longer returns an error when an item searched for is not found. (6617)
