Order Entry Notes Issue in 8.15.0, 8.15.2

UPDATE Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008 — The software correcting this issue has been released in DDMS 8.15.9. Please see Announcing ECi DDMS Version 8.15.9 (www.DDMS.com/support/release/whatsnew/dd8159.htm).

Thursday, July 24, 2008 — Our records show we have shipped you a copy of the DDMS 8.15 or 8.15.2 software update.

We are issuing an emergency release to correct issues in graphical Order Entry with Start Notes, End Notes, and line item Notes (QC# 54513). Rest assured, Order Entry specials work as they always have in text-based (G) screens.

We will automatically ship you a new software update CD for 8.15.3 or higher.

If you have not yet loaded DDMS 8.15.0 or 8.15.2, we do not recommend loading it. Please wait until you receive your new software update.

If you have already loaded your 8.15.0 or 8.15.2 software update, please read below for a detailed description of the issues and our temporary solutions.

Start Notes (AAAA) and End Notes (ZZZZ) Not Saved

You should be able to add Start Notes and End Notes, also known as AAAA and ZZZZ specials, at any time during graphical order entry. However, these notes are not being saved unless you accept a line item on the order after putting in the notes. As a result, those notes will not print at the start or end of your pick tickets, invoices, purchase orders, short buys, and backorders as expected.

Temporary Solutions on 8.15.0 or 8.15.2:

  • You should click the Notes toolbar button Order Notes button on the tool bar to add Start Notes and End Notes any time before you Accept your last line item.
  • If you forget, click the Notes toolbar button Order Notes button on the tool bar to type in your Start Notes and End Notes, then double-click an existing line item on the order and press Enter or click Accept (even if you don't make a line item change).
  • You can always add Notes in Change mode, using the same Notes toolbar button Order Notes function.

Line Item Notes Not Saved As Expected

You should be able to highlight a line item and add a note to it. However, in 8.15.0 and 8.15.2, the note is not being saved properly because it is requiring you to double-click and Accept a line item. Again, those line item notes will not print on your pick tickets, invoices, purchase orders, short buys, and backorders as expected.

Temporary Solutions on 8.15.0 or 8.15.2:

  • You should click the Notes toolbar button Order Notes button on the tool bar to enter line item specials for the current item before you press Enter or click Accept to place it on the order.
  • If you forget, bring up the existing line item by double-clicking it or highlighting it and pressing Enter, then click the Notes toolbar button Order Notes button on the tool bar to type in your line item notes, and press Enter or click Accept.
  • You can always add Notes in Change mode, using the same Notes toolbar button Order Notes function.

Notes Not Saved When Entering Credit Returns

Notes and Specials will not save on credits because the line item is already accepted.

Temporary Solution on 8.15.0 or 8.15.2:

  • You can add notes for credits when you go to Change mode, using the Notes toolbar button Order Notes function.

Thank you for your attention in this matter. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may cause.

Sincerely,
ECi DDMS Technical Support
