Third-Party PowerChute Software Issue Interferes with DDMS Operations
Date: Friday, July 29, 2005
Dear DDMS Customers:
Some DDMS customers using an APC® uninterruptible power supply (UPS) as the battery backup device for their DDMS server have experienced problems with their system shutdowns. These problems can interfere with backups, period-end procedures, Internet connection, and other operations on the DDMS server.
We have identified the PowerChute 6.x software provided with the APC units as the cause of the problem. If you are using an APC UPS unit with your DDMS server, you need to upgrade to APC’s PowerChute 7 software.
For more information about this problem and to access the software update, please see the American Power Conversion Corp. knowledge base article, PowerChute Business Edition - Customers Using 6.x Must Upgrade to 7.x due to Java Runtime Environment expiration.
While ECi does not support this third-party software, we regret any inconvenience this issue may have caused. Thank you for your attention in this matter.
Sincerely,
ECi Technical Support
