ECi Plans Data Center Migration To Texas
Over the next few weeks, we will be moving from our data center in Virginia to a new Tier 1 facility located in Texas.
ACTION ITEM: Backend Integrated Web Storefronts
Require Firewall Preparations By Friday, August 8
The move to the new facility changes our IP address range. If your network currently has a firewall open to our products, this will require you to make firewall updates by Friday, Aug. 8, 2008 so that our migration procedures that weekend do not interrupt your services.
This affects dealers whose e-commerce products connect to backend systems (including but not limited to ECi's COPAS®, DDMS®, and Maytech™ systems). For example: ECinteractive™, Dealer Station®, is.D-Force®, is.D-Force2, Distributor Station™ and some Dealer Station Xtended customers will need to update their firewall rules.
New IP Range
Simply add our new IP range (between 205.216.10.1 and 205.216.10.254) to your firewall rules.
We recommend that you take steps to complete this task at your earliest convenience to help ensure a smooth transition.
Exceptions
- Please do not remove your existing range (207.126.108.1 – 207.126.108.255) until we confirm it is safe to do so when we notify you that the migration is complete.
- If you currently have an additional rule set up so that 65.208.30.254 is open in your firewall, do not remove it or block it. This rule is critical for ECi DDMS Support in Fort Worth to be able to troubleshoot your DDMS system. If you do not already have this rule, you might take this opportunity to open 65.208.30.254, at least ports 5631 TCP and 5632 UDP (for pcAnywhere), and port 8765 (for Web storefront troubleshooting via eGate Test). If your firewall already has this IP or these ports open, let those rules remain.
Troubleshooting
If you are not sure whether these firewall preparations apply to you, please check with your network personnel, Internet service provider (ISP), or hire an outside consultant. Only your network personnel can verify whether adding the new IP address is necessary and make the required change.
Note: ECi Technical Support does not have the resources to access or configure your firewall.
If you or your network/ISP technician have additional questions, contact your ECi Technical Support team:
Weekend Maintenance Set for All Hosted Services
We will be moving all ECi products currently hosted in our Virginia Data Center in phases. The migration tasks will be completed during evening hours on various weekends in August.
During these maintenance periods, your Web storefront or other hosted services may be unavailable on an intermittent basis.
We will notify you via email when your product's maintenance is scheduled, and provide further instructions.
Why We're Moving To A New Data Center
As you may know, ECi corporate headquarters have moved from Reston, Va., to Fort Worth, Texas, where the majority of ECi employees are located.
With the new data center located nearby the majority of ECi's information technology and operations personnel, it will be it easier to maintain and support ECi's growing Web storefront products and Private Supply Network services.
The new facilities provide world-class Tier 1 Internet connectivity with flexible infrastructure to meet our changing business needs. We plan to complete the move by Monday, Aug. 18, 2008.

Paul Lewis,
