Order Entry is the key application for your system. It lets you create customer orders, and then verify and invoice them. You can also change and delete orders, when necessary, and inquire on them.
This is where all the work you've done on your databases begins to pay benefits. When placing an order, you select the appropriate customer from your customer database. You retrieve items from the inventory database to place them on the order. The system calculates a suggested selling price for each item, using a wide array of factors: the pricing you set up for this customer, the cost and list specified in the inventory database, discounts specified in contracts, and so forth.
It's a good idea to practice order entry, so you become comfortable with it before trying to enter real orders. Most of the instructions for order entry are in the form of online tutorials, so you can imitate the actions using your own system.
