Inventory Database

This database contains information about each item you handle. It includes basic information, like item number, description, and list price. It also includes purchasing information, such as the costs and buy units for the vendors from which you can purchase each item.

When you create your inventory database, you lay the foundation for the most important software applications: Order Entry, Purchasing, and reporting. This database also affects applications such as General Ledger. The items comprise the largest body of information in eNsite. Therefore, one of the most important tasks you face when setting up your system is creating an inventory database that gives you maximum pricing, purchasing, and reporting power.

In this section, we describe the basic features you need to consider while creating your inventory database. We also explain how to create new items, and how to change and delete items.

If this is your first opportunity to learn about the inventory database, we suggest you read these topics in order, since they build on one another.
