In the (L2) Screen
The general ledger (G/L) parameters in the (L2) G/L Master Numbers screen determine the default accounts that the system uses for accounting functions. The system uses the account numbers for system-generated postings as well as the defaults for manual postings. You can use the parameters in this screen to set the default business period, the auto-posting option, and the default fiscal year. Since the fields in this screen have a major effect on how your system operates, we recommend that you set these parameters before going live.
The preset options in the (L2) screen are set up for the standard chart of accounts that is included with your system. If you modify or replace the chart of accounts, you must change the parameters in this screen accordingly, so that your G/L application functions properly. Any changes or additions must be set up in the (J) Chart of Accounts Master screen before you can enter the account numbers in these fields.
Unlike most other parameter screens, the (L2) screen is not location-specific. Because you must use the same chart of accounts structure for each location (profit-center) you have, the parameters in this screen apply to all locations. For this reason, the location portion of the G/L account number is not used in the account number fields in this screen.
The fields in the lower portion of the (L2) screen contain the general ledger account numbers that the system uses for system-generated postings. These accounts are also used as the defaults for manual postings.
