Item Mass Changes

You can set minimum and maximum stocking levels through the (+E) Special Item screen. These levels are used in calculating reorder amounts on the Low-Stock and Overstock Reports. This function lets you set the levels according to previous usage. This function is excellent for a dealer with a main warehouse and location. You might run this function at different intervals throughout the month or year. This lets you take seasonal purchases into consideration. This also lets you increase your item quantities at the right time. For example, at the beginning of the month, buying may increase since the invoice date is into the next month. At the end of the month, buying may decrease as the invoice date is closer.

Note:  It is not necessary to clear existing minimums and maximums prior to running this function. To set minimums and maximums, go to the (+E) screen and select the [O] Set Minimum/Maximum function.

  1. To access the specials screens, double-click graphics\KEYOPMENUICON16.gif, then double-click graphics\SPECIALSICON16.gif. The (+) Special Programs screen opens.

  2. Type E, Modify Inventory Records. The (+E) Special Item screen displays.

  3. Type O to open the (+EO) screen. This screen lets you set minimum and maximum stocking levels. These levels are used in calculating reorder amounts on the Low-Stock and Overstock Reports. This function lets you set the levels according to previous usage.

If you do not want to set limits, press Enter until the cursor moves to the Formula to Use field. Go to Specifying the Formula for Min/Max Quantities.

Warning: Use extreme caution when using these functions. DDMS recommends that you perform a backup before any mass changes or deletions are performed.

Note:  If you do not specify a range, the system will set minimums and maximums for all inventory records with history in the (EH) Inventory History screen.

  1. To set limits, tab to the appropriate field, enter the beginning of the range to include in the changes in the first field and press Tab. Enter the end of the range in the corresponding To field. Suppose you want to set the minimum and maximum quantities on records with item numbers within the range 1000 through 2000. You would enter 1000 in the Item # field and 2000 in the corresponding To field.

Note:  The Class and Dept fields refer to the Class field in the Master Record and the Class field in the Pricing Record and the Dept field in the Master Record and the Dept field in the Pricing Record, respectively.
