Add the item to use for multiple units of measure for EDI. You cannot make changes to an item already in the database. You must manually add an item (not from an external source such as O/PUS) and make it a multiple unit of measure item. If you need information on manually adding an item, see Adding an Item. Remember, if you manually add an item, you do not need to run the conversion program.
Note: You can only change items to multiple units of measure using the (+E) screen. For more information, see Using the (+EW) Screen.
In the Item Master tab, you must enter the selling unit of measure in the Sell UOM box.
Click the Settings tab. Use the Units of Measure boxes (EDI Use Only) in this tab to set up the item with multiple units of measure for EDI.
Example, your EDI customer orders pencils individually (EA). You sell pencils by the box of 12 (BX). You must divide your unit of measure by 12 to obtain the customer's unit of measure. Specify EA in the Unit box, 12 in the Quantity box and D in the M/D box.
Enter the unit of measure transmitted by your EDI customer in the Unit box (EDI Use Only section).
Enter the value to be multiplied or divided to obtain the customer's unit of measure in the Quantity box (EDI Use Only section).
Type M, for multiply, or type D, for divide, in the M/D box (EDI Use Only section).
Note: The Quantity and M/D boxes work together to calculate the ratio between the customer's unit of measure and your unit of measure.
