Adding a Customer Alias
From the Item database, click
. The Item Alias dialog box opens.
Click the Customer option under Alias Types. The Customer Query dialog box opens.
Select the customer for whom to add a Customer alias. If you need instructions for using the Customer Query dialog box, see Selecting a Customer. The Customer Number, Department, and Name boxes in the Add Alias dialog box are filled in with the information for the customer you select.
Tip: Click Find Customer to open the Customer Query dialog box and select a different customer at any time.
Note: Although you can select a customer by department, the alias you add applies to all departments under the account number you select. You can not restrict the alias to a specific department.
Click
. The Item Query dialog box opens. (You can also add a new alias by selecting an alias in the list at the bottom of the screen. Right-click the alias and select Add Alias.)
Select the item for which to add a Customer alias. If you need instructions for using the Item Query dialog box, see Selecting an Item. The Adding Item Alias dialog box opens displaying the Customer ID and Name for the company you select and the Item Number, Company, and Description for the item you select. The Alias box is highlighted.
Type the Customer alias in the Alias box.
If this alias requires multiple units of measure, follow the steps below. If not, go to Step 8.
Click the UOM box and enter the unit of measure for this alias (see the example below).
Click the Factor box and type M, for multiply, or type D, for divide (see the example below).
Click the Quantity box and enter the value to be multiplied or divided to obtain the alias's unit of measure (see the example below).
Example: This alias is for pencils sold individually (EA). You usually sell pencils by the box of 12 (BX). You must divide your unit of measure by 12 to obtain the individual unit of measure. Specify EA in the UOM box, D in the Factor box and 12 in the Quantity box.
Note: The Factor and Quantity boxes work together to calculate the ratio between the individual unit of measure and the box unit of measure.
Click OK to accept the information you entered and return to the Item Alias dialog box.
Note: Click Exit to cancel the information you entered and return to the Item Alias dialog box.
Click
in the Item Alias dialog box to save the Customer alias.
Click
to exit from the Item Alias dialog box.
