About Item Database Parameters
Inventory parameters determine how you create the Item database and how individual items are treated. You also use these parameters to assign passwords to item procedures. This lets you control who can utilize the different functions in your Item database.
Preset parameters are provided for location 1 when you receive DDMS. This means that even if you make no changes to the parameters, you can use the system. However you may determine that one or more of the preset parameters needs to be changed to best suit the needs of your business, or that you need to set up additional locations.
You set the inventory parameters in several screens. Before you build your Item database and begin using it, you may want to view the preset parameters in the following screens:
(LE) Inventory Parameters screen.
(LE1) Inventory Parameters continuation screen.
Certain parameters specifically affect Contracts, Assortments, and Column Pricing. Most of these parameters are set in the (LE1) Inventory Parameters screen. In addition, there are related parameters in the (LG3) Order Entry Pricing Parameters screen.
Certain parameters specifically affect Bill of Materials lists, Laundry Lists, and Assemblies. Most of these parameters are set in the (LE1) Inventory Parameters screen. In addition, there are related parameters in the (LG5) Additional Order Entry Parameters screen and the (L1) Terminal and Ticket Parameters screen.
If you set up Multiple Bins, DDMS recommends setting the Split to a Separate Line Partial Backorders field to Y in the (LGØ) Order Entry Parameters screen.
(LR) Inventory Standard Reports screen.
Several screens have an affect on items. You can set related parameters in each of the following screens:
(LØ) Global Master Parameters screen
(LF) Purchase Order Parameters screen
(LGA) Sales Journals Parameters screen
(LM1) Period End Procedures Parameters screen
Note: The information you enter in parameter screens is stored in the file PARAMETERS.
