Tax Districts

Tax percentages change. When they do, you should not change the old tax district. If you change the old district and need to run sales reports using those tax district percentages, or reprint an old invoice that uses that district, the previous tax percentage is gone and the new percentage is used.

Instead, we recommend that you add a new tax district using the new tax rate. After creating the new district, you can reassign it to the customer. If you need to reassign a tax district to multiple customers, mass changing allows you to reassign all or several accounts simultaneously. For instructions, see Adding a Tax District, Adding a Single Tax District, Adding a Combined Tax District, and Assigning a Tax District to a Customer.

You can also view a training video on Changing Tax Percentages on our web site at http://www.ddms.com/support/tutorial/taxdistricts.htm.

Note: If you change an existing tax district account's percentage, the Sales Tax District Report's taxes automatically calculate using the new tax percentage. The report is unable to access the rate charged at the time of sale.

Tax percentages are not stored in the JOUR-S file. DDMS automatically looks in the Tax District database and (LØ) Global Master screen for tax calculations.
