Posting Adjustments and Corrections

  1. Double-click graphics\AR_POST_ICON16.gif.

  2. Click the Post/Change tab.

  3. Select the customer. For details, see Selecting a Customer in Accounts Receivable.

  4. In the Batch Information dialog box, specify the batch information and click OK. For instructions, see Specifying Batch Information.

  5. Click araddnew.gif.

  6. Click the down arrow in the Type box, and click Adjustment. Press Tab.

  7. In the Invoice # box, enter the number of the invoice to adjust.

  8. In the Date box, enter a different date, or accept the default date. Enter the date in one string. For example, to enter a date of 02/05/2007, enter 02052007. Press Tab.

  9. To write off a bad debt, decrease the A/R balance. Make your adjustment in the Payments box. For example, if you are writing off a bad debt of $100.00, enter 100.00 in the Payments box.

  10. In the Reverse G/L box, specify the appropriate reverse general ledger number for your adjustment. In this case, specify your bad debt account as the reverse. (If you’re not using general ledger, accept the default reverse account.)

  11. In the Remarks box, enter text to describe this adjustment, or accept the default remarks. You can enter up to 11 alphanumeric characters.

  12. Click OK.

  13. Click graphics\POSTCHANGE-PCTAB16.gif to save your changes.

  14. At the Are You Sure prompt, click Yes.
