Sales Reports

Sales reports can include information about each item in your sales journal.

You can print these reports through the (U) Sales Selectors screen and the (UR) Sales Reports screen.

The (U) screen uses the Report Writer format, which offers you the greatest power and flexibility. Using this format, your reports can include any piece of sales information in your system.

The (UR) screen is a fast and powerful tool for printing sales reports. Through it, you can request standard sales reports using preset options. Requesting reports through the (UR) screen is quick and easy.

The (U) screen, however, lets you customize a report to suit your needs and save it. Once you set up these custom reports, you can request them with only three or four keystrokes.

To access text-based screens, double-click the icon. The Master Menu appears. You must press the Caps Lock key. You always use capital letters in text-based screens. To select the screen, type its letter. For example, type UR to view the (UR) Sales Reports screen.

Sales Reports Files

Four files, JOUR-U, JOUR-S, JOUR-UC, and NAMES-S, contain all sales information.

To see samples of these reports, see the online help topic Printing Standard Sales Reports. You can also use the Report Writer to print custom reports: see Printing Custom Sales Reports.

Additional Sales Reports

You can print four different reports through the (URG) Sales Journal Selection screen. These reports use information from the sales journals you have set up in the (LGA) Sales Journals Parameters screen. You can use these reports to compare information according to specified business periods.

For example, the Customer Sales Comparison by Periods Report allows you to compare customer sales between two business periods. It calculates the average sales per month and also calculates the customer’s percentage of the salesman’s total sales based on average monthly sales dollars.

The Item Sales Comparison by Periods Report lists sales and gross profit percentages according to item stock class. This report prints detail including net sales, cost, margin, and gross profit percentages for both the current business period and any prior business periods you specify.

The Customer & Salesman +/- Sales by Period vs. Period Report lists sales figures by comparing two different business periods. Using the two periods, it compares the increase and decrease in sales.

The Period Comp. Sales, for Customer w/Invoice Info Report compares sales dollars, sales margins, and gross profit percentages for any two business periods you specify. It also compares the number of invoices and average invoice
amounts for both periods.

These reports can be printed containing information from multiple journals. They also include expanded limiting and sorting capabilities. In the (URG1) Sales Reports screen, you can sort and limit the report by various customer and item information including stock classes, gross profit percentages, sales dollar amounts, contract and invoice numbers, and so forth. You can also obtain sort group totals.

Once you have viewed these reports, you can test your sales reports knowledge.
