After creating your chart of accounts, you must post your
beginning balances in the General Ledger Posting screen.
To post your beginning balances, follow the steps below:
StartDDMSby double-clicking the
icon on your desktop.
In theDDMSLogin window, the cursor appears in the User ID box. Type 101 and
click OK. (You do not need a password.)
The
number 101 is a salesperson number we preset when building your system. During
the Let's Get Started program, you create a salesperson database. After you
do this, each user has a unique number. You also have the option of assigning
passwords for each user. For more information, seeSalesperson
Database.
In the eNsite Pro Master Menu, select the General Ledger database
by double-clicking the
icon.
In the General Ledger Menu, double-click the
icon.
The General Ledger Posting screen opens. General Ledger screens are text-based,
not graphical. Press the Caps Lockkey. You always use capital letters
in text-based screens. To post your beginning balances, type P to
post.
The Enter (A)dd, (D)elete, (E)dit prompt appears. To post beginning balances,
type A to Add.
The cursor moves to the Fiscal/To fields. Enter the year to which you
want to post.
The cursor moves to the Batch # field. Enter the batch number that you
want to post to.
The cursor moves to the date field at the upper right corner of the screen.
Enter the date to which you want to post, or press Enter to accept the system
default date.
The cursor moves to the Period field. Press Enter to accept the current
period (the period set in the Current Period field in the (L2) screen),
or enter the period you want to post to.
General Ledger parameters are set in the (L2) G/L Master Numbers screen
and the (LJ) General Ledger Parameters screen. For more information on setting

The cursor moves to the G/L Nbr field. Retrieve the G/L account to which
you want to post. You can retrieve the account by account number, account
description, or, if you are not sure of the account number, you can use
the Query feature to retrieve the account.
Once you have retrieved the correct account number, the cursor moves to
the J/E No field.
Use the Remarks field to enter any remarks regarding this posting and
press Tab.
The cursor moves to the Debits field. If you need to enter the transaction
as a debit, enter the amount. If you need to enter a credit instead, press
Tab to move to the Credits field and enter the amount. Press Enter.
The Is This Correct prompt appears. To accept the posting information,
type Y or press Enter.
