When your computer sorts records or information, it uses the ascending ASCII sort order, which includes a place for any character you can type, as shown below:

• Spaces
• Symbols ! " # $ % & ' ( ) * + , - . /
• Numerals 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
• Symbols : ; < = > ? @
• Letters A B C ... X Y Z, abc ... xyz
• Symbols [ \ ] ^ _ ‘ { | } ~

Ascending ASCII sort order means numbers sort before capital letters, and lower case letters sort after capital letters. For example, SO1A comes after 19, and 2B comes before 2b.
