Serialized Concepts

When you have practiced enough to be comfortable with the Serialized application, you’re ready to go live, and use it for real business transactions.

Before going live, you need to delete the files that contain your practice transactions.

Note: Before deleting any files, back up the unit containing your serial files.

Two lists of files appear below. The files in the first group contain calls you log and the times technicians spent completing them. They also contain any meter billing information you create. You can safely delete all of these files, as long as all the calls you log and dispatch are practice calls, and you did no real meter billing. Files in the second group contain historical information. They can be deleted only if they contain no real information.

Files to Delete: History Files

Before deleting any of the following files, make sure they contain no real information. If any of these files contain both real and practice records, you can delete the practice records using the [D] Delete function in the (EZ+S) Serial Setup screen.

If a file contains real records, but some of the boxes in these records contain practice information, you can delete the practice information in two ways:

Note: Since these files are more likely to contain real information than those for call logging, time tracking, and meter billing, we briefly describe each file.

Z-CON-AUX

Stores current and extended contract history information from the Contract Detail History and Contract Detail Renew History tabs. It also stores each contract’s next bill date, which is displayed in the Next Bill Date box in the Contract Detail History tab.  The system uses this date to generate billings; be careful not to delete this date if it’s accurate.

Z-D-HIST

Stores monthly deferred income entries made in the lower portion of the Contract Detail Deferred Income tab. Delete if you do not have accurate deferred income information.

Z-DEFERRED

Stores deferred income information for the Contract Detail Deferred Income tab, excluding monthly entries. Delete if you do not have accurate deferred income information.

Z-DEPREC

Stores depreciation information for the Machine Depreciation tab. Delete if you do not have accurate depreciation records.

Z-METER

Contains meter records for contracts that include meters. Delete if you do not have real contract meter records yet. If there are some inaccurate boxes in the Contract Detail Contract tab, you can easily correct them.

Z-M-KEYS

Stores meter information for reports. Delete if you do not have real contract meter records yet.

Z-M-AUX

Stores meter history, which is displayed in the Contract Detail History tab.

Z-M-BILL

Stores meter readings for billing purposes.

Z-M-COUNTS

Stores meter readings for the last 10 calls in the Contract Detail Contract tab.
