Viewing Salesperson History
The DDMS Salesperson database includes a history feature. The information provided through order entry and sales journals is used to build a cumulative sales history for each salesperson. You can build history on total sales or on specific items. Salesperson sales history is displayed in the Salesperson History Total Sales and Group Sales tabs:
Total Sales Tab: This tab breaks history into categories: sales, costs, margins, and gross profit percentages. These categories are further divided into yesterday's totals, month-to-date totals, year-to-date totals, and last year's totals.
Group Sales Tab: This tab lets you view group sales information for specific items. You set up item departments for which to view group sales in the G/L Departments window. If you assign an item department its own general ledger account number in this window, the item department is assigned its own group letter in the Group Sales tab, A, B, C, and so on. If you do not assign an item department a G/L number, the sales data is listed at the top of the Group column in a blank group.
If you begin keeping salesperson history at mid-month or mid-year, the information does not compare. For example, if you begin keeping history for a salesperson in the middle of January, the information for that month does not compare to other months since the information for January is for only half a month.
Note: The salesperson history information is updated during the (MA) Daily Backup Procedure.
