About Deleting a Salesperson
You may want to delete salespersons who are no longer employees. Before you do, make sure you have no sales history saved for the salesperson. ECi recommends that you plan the deletion of a salesperson in advance. Print and review sales history reports for all your customers to be sure no customers are assigned to the salespersons you delete.
Note: To prevent unauthorized deletions, assign a password for this procedure in the Delete field in the (LHY) Salesperson Parameters screen. To protect against accidental deletions, make a backup copy of the S-MASTER file before deleting salespersons.
If you are maintaining sales history, do not delete a salesperson if there are invoices in any sales journal credited to that salesperson. If you do, there is no way to identify the salesperson whose number appears on an invoice. Also, Sales History Reports show only the salesperson number and the message, Not On File, in place of the deleted salesperson's name.
Note: Customer invoices are stored in the sales journal JOUR-S file. You begin each month with an empty JOUR-S file; however, you can save the previous month's JOUR-S file under another name to keep your sales history for reporting purposes.
