Configuring the Utility Extension Program
The Utility Extension program is the interface between Approval Link 2.0 and POS-partner.
Using a Windows Platform
Note: The Utility Extension program requires Java™ 2 Technology Edition, which is included on your software CD. If you need assistance with any of these steps, please call support.
On your desktop, double-click
.
In the left pane, click Advanced.
From the Advanced list, right-click Server Settings and click Add New.
The Server Setting dialog box opens. In the Setting box, type UtilExtConsole, exactly as shown. (This box is case sensitive.)
Check the Flag box to see the monitoring program running in a window. We recommend checking the Flag box. If you leave the Flag box blank, the program runs in the background.
Click OK.
Restart TBL Server.
Using Windows Explorer, find and open the folder, ddms\utilext. (This is probably on your D: drive.)
Double-click the file Example-UtilExt_Applink.ini. Highlight and copy the POS settings.
Double-click the file UtilExt_Applink.ini. (If this file doesn't exist, you can rename the Example-UtilExt_Applink.ini to UtilExt_AppLink.ini.)
Using Wordpad, edit the file as follows:
Change the request and response port settings to those specified when you configured the API Configuration Manager. For example, enter 2113.
Change the server address setting to that of the server on which POS-partner is loaded.
The POS V Number is assigned by POS-partner.
Change the POS timeout setting to 65.
Note: To view the tracedebug file, use Explorer to open the file logs\ ApprovalLink1\ApprovalLink1Trace.log. This file is located in your UtilExt directory and is used for troubleshooting.
Save your changes.
Using an AIX UNIX Platform
These instructions explain how to load the Utility Extension program on an AIX Unix-based platform. AIX UNIX is case-sensitive.
Go to www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/aix/service.html?SDFticket= to download and install the Java 2 software.
On the Java Release table, click Java 1.3.0.
In the Enter User ID Here box, type DDMS.
In the Enter Password Here box, type DDMSDDMS.
Click Sign In.
Click Accept License.
Scroll down to the heading AIX 4.3.3 Fixes Required. Click the AIXptfs.tar link.
The File Download Wizard opens. Click Save This File to Disk and then click OK. Follow the prompts.
Copy and install the fix files. Contact IBM for information on how to install them.
Return to the download page (www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/aix/service.html?SDFticket=) from Step 1. Scroll to the heading IBM Runtime Environment for AIX Java 2 Technology Edition. Click the jre130.tar link.
The File Download Wizard opens. Click Save This File to Disk and then click OK. Follow the prompts.
Using a text editor, open /etc/environment. At the end of the Path line, add :/urs/Java130/jre/bin
Save your changes.
Copy and install Java 1.3.0. Contact IBM for information on how to complete the installation.
Insert the TBLNetCom software update tape you received into your tape drive. The tape also contains the Utility Extension program.
At the Keyop menu, select the Software Update From Tape option. Follow the prompts.
When the update is complete, restart your system.
Edit the configuration file. Check your Caps Lock key before editing the UtilExt_ Applink.ini file. Stray caps or extra spaces may cause problems.
Using a text editor, open /u/ddms/UtilExt/UtilExt_Applink.ini.
Change the request and response port settings to those specified when you configured the API Configuration Manager.
Change the address setting to that of the server on which POS-partner is loaded.
Change the POS V Number to the one given to you by POS-partner.
Change the POS timeout to 65.
Save your changes.
