Specifying Customer Information

When you select a customer, the default shipping information displays in the Ship To boxes. This information comes from the Customer Shipto Address boxes in the ShipTo/Attention tab of the Customer database. When you place an order, you can change this default address, but the change is effective for this current order only. In addition, when you change the customer's shipping address in Order Entry, be sure you change the tax district so it matches the new shipping address you specified. For example, if you're shipping the order to Dallas from Houston, be sure to adjust the tax district so it matches the Dallas tax. You change the tax district for an entire order in the Order Settings dialog box. For details, see Viewing and Changing Order Settings. There are two methods by which you can change the customer's shipping address for the order. You can enter a different shipping address, or select one of the available shipping addresses set up for the customer.

 

To enter a different shipping address:

  1. In the Global tab, click Ship To.

  2. When the default shipping address is highlighted in the Ship To box, enter the new shipping address over the default address. In the Route box, you can enter a different route for this address. Press Tab to move the cursor from one box to the next.

To select an available shipping address:

  1. Click graphics\FIND_A_RECORD16.gif to the left of the Ship To box.

  2. The Shipto dialog box opens, displaying the shipping addresses set up for this customer.

  3. Click the correct shipping address for this order to highlight it. If the shipping address is not displayed, scroll up and down the list until the shipping address displays.

  4. When the shipping address you want is highlighted, click OK. The Order Entry window reopens, with the specified shipping address displayed.

  5. In the Route box, you can enter a different route for this address. The shipping address and route information you specified are used for the order.
