About Order Entry Parameters
Order Entry parameters let you customize the order entry application. For example, you can specify that you be notified concerning past due customer accounts. This feature notifies the order taker that a customer is 30, 60, or 90 days past due, for example. You can also use parameters to specify how to handle backordered items, or items that you can only partially fill. You may decide to backorder the entire amount, leaving whatever quantity you do have to fill the next customer's order.
Preset parameter options are provided for location 1. This means that even if you make no changes to the order entry parameter screens, you can use the application. However, you may determine that one or more of the preset options need to be changed to best suit the needs of your business, or you may need to set up parameters for additional locations.
You can set Order Entry parameters in several different screens. Before you begin using the order entry application, you may want to view the preset parameter options in the following:
The (LGØ) Order Entry Parameters screen
The (L1) Terminal and pick ticket parameters screen
The (LG5) Additional Order Entry Parameters screen.
However, many screens have an affect on the Order Entry application. You can set order entry parameters in each of the following screens:
The (LØ) Global Parameters screen
The (L1) Terminal and Ticket Parameters screen
The (LA) Customer and A/R Parameters screen
The (LE) Inventory Parameters screen
The (LF1) Purchase Order Flushing Parameters screen
The (LGØ) Order Entry Parameters screen
The (LG3) Order Entry Pricing Parameters screen
The (LG5) Additional Order Entry Parameters screen
The (LG7) Tender Code Master screen
The (LGA) Sales Journal Parameters screen
The (LGB) Credit Order Entry Parameters screen
The (+V) DataTran Modems screen.
Begin by verifying whether the preset options for location 1 are suitable for your business needs. If you determine that one or more are not acceptable, you can change them. When you have set the parameters for location 1, set parameters for each additional location you run differently than location 1. If you do not set parameters for a particular location, the parameters you set for location 1 are used.
Parameters are stored in the PARAMETERS file. For more information, see Parameters.
