System Utilities

Extracting a program from a library means that you remove a program from the library it is in and save it, either in a different library, or as an individual file.

Note:  This is a dedicated function. Be sure that no one is using the system and that all other terminals are in the Master Menu screen before continuing.

  1. At the Enter File Name field, enter the name of the library to extract. If you do not completely fill the field, press Tab.

  2. In the Enter Unit # field, enter the unit number where the specified library is located.

  3. The Enter V=View, H=Hardcopy, A=Add, D=Delete, P=Pack, E=Extract, L=View Libdat prompt appears. Type E.

  4. The system redisplays the Enter File Name/Enter Unit # prompt. Enter the name and unit number of the file for which to copy the program or screen. For example, to extract the (F) Purchase Order Entry screen, type F-SCREEN and enter the unit number.

  5. The system displays the Enter Library Program Name prompt. Enter the name of the program or screen to extract. For example, if you are extracting a program from purchase order entry, type :F. If you are extracting the (F) screen, type -F.

Note:  ECi recommends that you view the library before extracting.
