Understanding Units of Measure
There are two common units of measure: sell unit and buy unit. The buy unit represents the manner by which you purchase the item from the vendor, by the carton or box, for example. The sell unit represents the way in which you sell the item to the customer, by box or each, for example.
Note: Prior to loading your items from O/PUS, you must decide on the selling unit of measure.
If you are a commercial dealer that also has a retail store, you might want to consider Multiple Units of Measure. This feature is designed only for certain items that you break down and sell in a different unit than you buy it in. After you load your items, or if you decide to convert existing items, you must run the (+EW) conversion program to convert the items.
