Laundry List Basic Procedures

Laundry Lists contain items that a customer purchases on a regular basis. You can use Laundry Lists in Order Entry when placing orders for the customer. This improves efficiency and also provides better customer service.

Note: The Display Laundry List field in the (LG5) Additional Order Entry Parameters screen determines whether a Laundry List automatically displays in Order Entry. The Option field in the (L1) Terminal and Ticket Parameters screen must be set to B for the terminal you are using for the Laundry List feature to work in the Order Entry window. For information about using the (LG5) and (L1) screens, see Parameters.

Before you can add a Laundry List, you must first set up a four-character identifier for each customer. Identifiers help you easily identify a particular customer's laundry list. For example, the Widget Company customer could have WIDG as the customer's identifier. For details, see Setting Up a Customer Laundry List Identifier.

  1. In the DDMS Master Menu, click the Databases Menu and click Laundry List. The Laundry List dialog box opens.

  2. Click Add.

  3. The Laundry List Header dialog box opens. Enter the four-character identifier you set in the Laundry List ID box for the customer in the Customer Order Entry tab. Since you’re setting up the laundry list for use with this customer, the two identifiers must match. For more details, see In the Laundry List Header Dialog Box.

  4. When finished, click OK. The Add Laundry List dialog box automatically opens. For details, see In the Add Laundry List Dialog Box.

  5. Click Add Item. The Item Query dialog box opens.

  6. Select the item to add and click OK. For instructions using the Item Query dialog box, see the topic Using the Item Query Dialog Box.

  7. Click the User1 or User2 box to enter or change descriptive tags, if needed. You can enter up to 5 characters in each box.

Note: You might use the User1 and User2 columns to identify preferences, for example, 1ST and 2ND, or to identify items preferred by certain individuals who purchase from this laundry list, for example, Jack or Jane.

  1. Once you add an item, it is shown in the Add Laundry List dialog box. Click Add Item to add the next item and click OK.

  2. The Make it the First Row prompt appears. Click Yes to add the item to the top of the laundry list. Click No to add the item to the bottom of the list.

  3. You can also rearrange items on the list. Click the Item # or Description box of the item to move. Drag the item to the new position.

  4. Continue adding items as needed.

  5. You can also add or delete titles or items on a Laundry List:

Adding a Title to the Laundry List
Deleting a Title or Item on the Laundry List.

  6. When finished, click Save.

  7. Click Exit.

  8. In the Laundry List dialog box, click Exit.

  9. At the Save Changes prompt, click Yes.
