National Drop Ship

If you specified Y in the DS box for National Drop Ship in the Customer Shipto/Attention tab, every order for that customer is drop shipped automatically unless you turn the drop ship option off. Similarly, if you specified N in the DS box, or left the box blank, no orders for that customer is drop shipped unless you turn the drop ship option on.

You can turn the drop ship option off and on while placing an order. To do so, go to the Order Entry window and begin creating an order using the Order action code. The national drop ship customers are flagged before you begin the order. When you select a national drop ship customer, you are automatically notified. At this point, you can indicate whether to place a regular order for this customer, or proceed with the drop ship order.

If you decide to drop ship the order, you can type Ctrl + D in the Order Entry Global tab. The Order Entry Drop Ship Order Settings dialog box opens. This box lets you specify information for the order to drop ship. For example, you can use this dialog box to select the vendor for the order, enter a purchase order number, a due date, and an acknowledgment number. You can also specify the customer address where the order is drop shipped.

Note:  You can open the Drop Ship Order Settings dialog box at any time while placing an order and it affects the entire order. For example, if you open the Drop Ship Order Settings dialog box after placing half the items on an order, the entire order is drop shipped.

In addition to drop shipping an entire order, you have the option of drop shipping specific line items on the order. To do so, after you select the customer, click the Order Entry Item Detail tab and place the item on the order to drop ship. After you accept the item, click Ctrl + D to open the Drop Ship Order Settings dialog box and specify the information for this drop ship item. The information you specify applies to this line item on the order only.

Note:  If you make changes to the shipto address in Order Entry, make sure you update the tax district to correspond with the new address.
