1 ECi Adds PSN Communications with SYNNEX
SYNNEX Information Technologies, Inc. is now available through the ECi PSN. Founded in 1980, SYNNEX is a $4 billion global IT design-to-distribution services company. SYNNEX is a provider of IT supply products and hardware such as printers, systems, storage and more from the industry’s leading manufacturers.
SYNNEX PSN service provides:
• Online, real-time stock checks and price checks
• Product availability by warehouse location
• Fast, reliable order transmission and order acknowledgment
For more information about SYNNEX, call Bob Michelsen, Sales Manager at 888-223-1164, ext. 5540.
To add SYNNEX as a vendor:
- If you are already a PSN subscriber, go to www.DDMS.com/products/psn/psn.asp and click the "Add New Vendor to Your PSN Account" button on the left. Follow instructions.
- If you are not yet a subscriber to PSN, go to www.DDMS.com/products/psn/psn.asp and click the "Start a New PSN Account" button on the left. Follow instructions.
For PSN documentation, go to http://www.DDMS.com/support/doc/psn.htm
2 Handling Vendor Unit of Measure (UOM) Changes
Each quarter, especially in the fourth quarter, major wholesalers typically change their units of measure (UOM) to reflect purchasing trends. As a result, the selling units that you use as a dealer may not match your vendors’ new buying units for each of the affected items. Vendors provide these UOM changes, sometimes for hundreds of items, in the quarterly O/PUS® Update.
A special program called (+I-Y) Make-Buys is designed to convert your selling units to buy units, and automatically recalculate costs, prices, contracts, inventory quantities, shipping weights, and history totals accordingly.
The sequence of running Make-Buys and loading your item update is critical. To ensure that the unit of measure and pricing in the Scanalog (I-CAT database) match each item’s master record, follow the instructions in File # 244: Handling Vendor Unit of Measure (UOM) Changes
3 Housekeeping for Your DDMS Server
If your DDMS server is on the Microsoft® Windows® 2000 platform, there are a few simple “housekeeping” tools that you can use. This article discusses how to clean up disks; diagnose, repair, and compress DDMS files; defragment your disks; and set up Desktop shortcuts to these useful tools.
To learn how to clean up unnecessary files and streamline system performance, see File # 242: Housekeeping for Your DDMS Server
This is the first of what we hope is a long series of articles where the ideas and most of the content come from our customers. If you would like to suggest an idea for an article for the Key Ops newsletter, or if you would like to pass along any feedback or comments about this article, please email keyops@eci2.com.
4 Graphical Software’s Answer to Alphabet Soup
Many of you and your fellow employees are firmly entrenched in the eNsite family of products. Do you feel lost when you come across a reference to a text-based screen code? No more! We’ve developed a Web page that lists text-based screens by their letter codes, in alphabetical order. You can now cross-reference them to your DDMS software windows.
See Cross Reference of Text-Based Screen Code To Graphical Window on our Web site at http://www.DDMS.com/support/crossref.htm
5 Did You Know? Tech Tips
5A How to Back Up Your DDMS Server in Windows
To learn exactly what options to select in Windows Backup to ensure a complete backup of your DDMS system, see File #243: Backing Up Your DDMS Server in Microsoft® Windows 2000.
5B PSN Documentation Now Has Its Own Page
With more wholesalers lining up to participate in ECi ’s Private Supply Network, PSN documentation merits its own page. All the documentation has been revamped. There is a Phase I document common to all PSN setups. For Phase II, we have a growing list of instructions for each vendor. To learn how to set up your PSN services, see http://www.DDMS.com/support/doc/psn.htm
